Code Red Heat Emergency Declared In Montgomery Co.
Dangerous conditions are on the near horizon in Montgomery County.
NORRISTOWN, PA — A Code Red hot weather emergency has been declared in Montgomery County as a dangerous mix of heat and humidity hits the greater Philadelphia region over the coming days.
The declaration will span 1 p.m. to. 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 22 and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 23.
With moisture lingering in the air following the heavy rainstorm the past few days, humidity will be high, and temperatures soaring into the 90s could bring the heat index over 100 degrees for several hours.

That sort of weather is risky enough to kill sensitive individuals, as well as those who are dehydrated or unprepared.
Montgomery County officials say that lower income homes without air conditioning, unsheltered individuals, infants and children, the elderly, physical laborers, those with chronic health conditions, and athletes are all at special risk.
