Code Red Hot Weather Warning In Effect In Montgomery County
Thursday could be the hottest day of the year in the region, and Montgomery County has declared a Code Red Hot Weather Health Warning.

NORRISTOWN, PA — With temperatures rising to perhaps their highest mark of 2017 on Thursday, Montgomery County has declared a Code Red Hot Weather Health Warning.
The warning goes into effect at 11 a.m. on Thursday and continues through 6 p.m. on Friday. Warnings are issued when the heat index is over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, officials said.
The county notes that very young children, the elderly, and those with chronic medical conditions should especially take precautions.

Friends, relatives, or neighbors should check on people who may be at risk.
Temperatures are expected to peak in the mid-90s Thursday, and will remain over 90 on Friday, with humidity between 50 and 60 percent.

The county issued the following tips to help stay safe in the hot weather:
- Drink plenty of non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated fluids.
- Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
- If at all possible, try to get outdoor work completed during the morning to avoid the warmest part of the day
- Keep windows and interior doors open when running a fan at home.
- Keep cool by seeking an air-conditioned building if available, if not, seek rest in the shade.
- Most of the Senior Adult Activity Centers (SAACs) are air-conditioned, as are malls and libraries
