Diego, The No-Longer Baby Jaguar Born At Elmwood Zoo, Is Leaving
Diego, born in Elmwood in Jan. 2017, is headed off on a big journey to the Memphis Zoo to start a family of his own.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Diego, the young jaguar born at Elmwood Park Zoo less than two years ago, is packing his bags for the birthplace of rock and roll.
Diego, who, along with his sister Luna, captured the hearts of Montgomery County residents upon surprise birth back in Jan. 2017.
He will now head to the Memphis Zoo, where zookeepers say he will start a family of his own. He will be paired there with an eligible female as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Plan for Jaguars.

"We will miss Diego, as we're sure many of our guests will as well," Elmwood said in a statement announcing the move.
Diego is set to leave before Elmwood opens on Tuesday, Sept. 4, so zoo-goers looking to say goodbye to him should stop by before then.

Luna, along with her parents Zean and Inka, will remain at Elmwood's popular "Trail of the Jaguar" exhibit.
