Dolly Parton 'Imagination Library' To Roll Out In Norristown

The program is inspired by Dolly Parton's own father's struggles with illiteracy.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A new "Imagination Library" inspired by famed singer-songwriter Dolly Parton is bringing a special program to Norristown.

The library aims to provide free books to Norristown families with young children.

"This program aligns with our mission to promote literacy in our community," Eileen Hallstrom, Executive Director of the Literary Council of Norristown, said in a statement. "By placing books directly into the hands of young readers and their families, we are nurturing a lifelong love for reading and igniting their imagination."

Families with kids up to five years old can register their children in the library, which will serve zip codes 19401, 19403, 19405, and 19406. Organizers say the books will be "thoughtfully selected" to cater to each child's specific developmental needs over the years.

The library is inspired by Dolly Parton's own father's struggle with illiteracy. It was created in 1995.
