Eagles Beat Redskins, Advance To Playoffs
Breaking: The Eagles battled for their postseason lives Sunday, beating the Redskins while the Vikings fell to the Bears.

Going into Sunday afternoon, the Eagles needed not only to defeat the Redskins down in Washington, they needed the Bears to beat the Vikings to earn the final Wild Card playoff spot.
They got both.
The Eagles, led by Super Bowl MVP and late season hero Nick Foles, put together a largely dominant 24-0 performance over the Redskins. Nelson Agholor had two touchdowns, and the defense kept the Redskins at bay from the start.

As the sixth seed in the NFC, the Eagles will face the Bears in Chicago in the first round of the playoffs next week.
The dubiously motivated Bears, who had already secured their playoff spot, held off a struggling Vikings squad, 24-10.

Both games started out the right way for Philly fans. The Bears charged out to a 13-0 lead at half, while down in D.C., Foles connected with Alshon Jeffery to complete a drive in the closing minute of the first half to put the Birds up 10-0.

It was the conclusion of a tremendous drive which took up much of the second quarter and put the Eagles definitively in command of the game. Foles was brilliant throughout, never missing, and even setting an Eagles franchise record along the way:
Nick Foles has completed 19 consecutive passes, surpassing Donovan McNabb (9/23/07 vs. Detroit) for the most ever by an @Eagles QB in a single game. #FlyEaglesFly

With the Rams comfortably ahead of the 49ers at the half, making it less likely that a Bears victory would mean they could steal the second seed, the question then became: would the Bears put out more of their second stringers, and could a thus far ineffective Minnesota offense get anything going?
The answers were no, and no. The Bears did not really rest, and the Vikings never seemed to hit their stride, falling flat when they needed big plays the most.
After falling to 6-7 and the brink of playoff elimination, the Eagles put together a compelling drive to close out the regular season, earning wins over the Redskins and the playoff bound Rams and Texans in the final three weeks of the season.
For the second straight year Foles will lead the Birds into the postseason, as the 2018 Super Bowl champions look to defend their title.
