PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Eagles may be headed to the Super Bowl for the second time in five years, but they'll do so in the shadow of criminal charges filed against one of their players.

Offensive lineman Joshua Sills was charged in Ohio Wednesday with rape and kidnapping in Dec. 2019.

Sills, 25, "engaged in sexual activity that was not consensual and held a victim against her will," Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost's office said in a statement.

The incident occurred in Guernsey County, Ohio. Sills is a resident of Sarahsville in Noble County.

Police said that the crime was immediately reported, and the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office led the investigation. The case was presented to a grand jury.

Sill appeared in only one regular season game in 2022, and did not play in either of the team's two playoff games. He was signed as an undrafted rookie last summer out of Oklahoma State.

The Eagles did not release an immediate public comment on the charges.

Sills must appear in Guernsey County Common Pleas Court on Feb. 16 at 1 p.m.
