PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Eagles have their first round matchup for the 2022 NFL playoffs set, and it's an opponent they're all too familiar with.

Tom Brady and the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers will host the Birds in Florida on Sunday, Jan. 16 at 1 p.m.

The NFL playoff bracket was set after the final weekend of the regular season. Even though the Eagles lost a blowout to the Cowboys, 51-26, they still finished the season with a 9-8 record, good enough for the 7th seed in the NFC.

It will mark the first playoff appearance for Jalen Hurts as a starting quarterback and for first year head coach Nick Sirianni. It comes after the Eagles endured a 1-3 start to the regular season and initial questions about the futures of Hurts and Sirianni, as well as on the heels of a brutal 2020 season that saw the Eagles vast underperform and undergo what appeared to be a rebuilding phase in the offseason.

The Eagles saw Brady and the Bucs earlier in 2021 when they lost a close matchup, 28-22. The Bucs landed the second seed in the NFC with a 13-4 record.
