Eagles' starting quarterback Carson Wentz expected to be ready

The 25-year-old went 11-2 last season as the Eagles' starter before getting hurt. The team went on to win the Super Bowl last season.

Even though Eagles' NFL starting quarterback Carson Wentz has been injured for several months with a torn ACL and LCL, there is optimism that he will be ready for the Eagles' season opener in 2018 against Atlanta at home in early September.

After going 11-2 as the Eagles' starting QB, Wentz was hurt in Week 14 last season and missed the rest of the regular season and all of Philadelphia's postseason where they won two playoff games and Superbowl 52. He has not joined the Eagles for offseason workouts in 2018.

Wentz, 25, threw a league-high 33 touchdown passes last season, breaking the former Eagles' record of 32 TD throws by Sonny Jurgensen in 1961. Wentz threw for 3,296 yards last season and threw just seven interceptions.

After Wentz's injury, his replacement Nick Foles, 29, went 5-1 and guided the Eagles to a 41-33 win over the Patriots in the 2018 Super Bowl, making the Eagles World Champions. In seven regular season games last season Foles threw for 537 yards with five touchdown passes and just two interceptions.

Foles threw for 373 yards and three touchdown passes in last season's NFL Superbowl and even caught one touchdown pass from Trey Burton in the game. Foles was named the MVP of the Superbowl in 2018.
