East Norriton Resident Earns Medal At Regional Science Olympiad

The event at Neumann University in Aston was organized by an international organization that works to improve the quality of science education and student interest in science.

Devon Prep Upper School and Middle School Science Olympiad Teams earned medals at the competition. Between the two teams, nine students came home with two first place medals, two second place medals, and two third place medals, the school district said.

Nearly 30 Devon Prep Middle School and Upper School students participated in the regional competition where more than 1000 middle school and high school students from 60 schools in the region were in attendance, according to Devon Prep.

  • Junior Matthew Siracusa of Newtown Square and Sophomore William Rule of Phoenixville earned: 1st place in Robot Arm and 2nd place in the Towers categories.
  • Eighth Grader Nolan Ramanjulu of Ramanjulu and Seventh Grader Matthew Sarkees of Newtown Square earned 1st place in Towers.
  • Eighth Grader Dylan Smoot of West Chester and Seventh Grader Michael Gaetano of Phoenixville earned 2nd place in Road Scholar.
  • Eighth Graders Dylan Smoot of West Chester and Noah Salewski of Parkesburg earned 3rd place in Bottle Rocket.
  • Seventh Graders Owen Pilacik of East Norriton and Pablo Alonso of Phoenixville earned 3rd place in the Scrambler category.
