Elmwood Park Zoo Named 'Garden Of The Month'

The zoo's handsome new animal topiaries have attracted some attention.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Elmwood Park Zoo was honored this week as "garden of the month" by the Norristown Garden Club, in recognition of their slate of new animal topiaries.

The new sleek, animal-shaped, closely cropped brushes were recently put up along along Harding Boulevard.

The topiaries are framed by Elmwood's new landscaping work, which was completed by Gina Villante and C.M. Jones Inc.

"A huge thank you to the Norristown Blooms committee, the Norristown Garden Club, Chief Thomas O'Donnell, and the Norristown Borough Council for this wonderful honor and their ongoing efforts to enhance our community's beauty," the zoo said in a statement.

The Norristown Garden Club, the largest garden club in Pennsylvania, was founded in 1913 and has worked with the zoo since it helped on early design and landscaping in the early 1980s.
