Elmwood Park Zoo To Reopen On Friday: What To Know

Masks will be required for all guests and staff, and tickets must be purchased in time slots, the zoo said.

NORRISTOWN, PA — With Montgomery County moving to the green phase, one of the area's most popular attractions will reopen its doors. Elmwood Park Zoo will officially reopen on Friday, June 26.

As expected, things will look a little bit different at the zoo in the post-pandemic world. Masks are required for all guests and staff, and the zoo will operate at a maximum capacity of 300 people.

Single day guests must purchase timed tickets, and yearly members must reserve a time slot, in order to visit the zoo. This can only be done online.

Arrows and paw prints are on the ground to help guests maintain social distancing. Hand sanitizer stations are installed around the zoo, and additional custodial staff have been hired to help cleaning protocols.

Several parts of the zoo are enclosed, including all interactive play stations, the Percussion Garden, face painting, feeding experiences, barn yards, outdoor concession stands, stroller rentals, Nature Shop store, Wildlife Lodge, and the Trail of the Jaguar.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. But there are some caveats: Tuesday mornings from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. have been reserved for seniors and groups at-risk for coronavirus. And every day is open an hour earlier to yearly members.
