Family Pet Rescued In Norristown Fire, Home Left Uninhabitable

Good work by the Norristown Fire Department.

Firefighters battled a blaze at a home on the 1300 block of Pine Street Tuesday morning, Norristown Fire Chief Tom O’Donnell confirmed.

Crews arrived to the scene at 9:31 a.m. and saw heavy smoke coming from the second floor of the residence.

Personnel made a forced entry on the ground floor and rescued a family pet from the house.

The fire was in the bedroom on the second floor and the cause was electrical, O’Donnell said.

Paramedics provided oxygen to the family dog, which recovered sufficiently enough to walk away from the scene.

The home was left uninhabitable, but the family has been relocated and the Red Cross was not required on scene.

Neighboring homes also suffered smoke damage from the blaze.

No other injuries were reported.
