Fatal Weekend Shooting Was Tied To 2013 Killing Of Teen In Norristown

Police said mourners of the teen killed in 2013 were gathered at his gravesite when gunfire broke out.

NORRISTOWN, PA — The fatal weekend shooting at a cemetery in Horsham was intimately tied to the separate killing of a teenager in Norristown a decade ago.

Mourners were gathered at the grave of Tyreek Fairel, a King of Prussia man who was killed at the age of 19 back in 2013, on Sunday afternoon.

A dispute within the group of mourners, who were there to celebrate Fairel's birthday, led to gunfire, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said.

Fairel's death stemmed from an incident near the intersection of Marshall and Violet streets in Norristown in July 2013. Fairel was in the passenger seat of a car when he became involved in a confrontation with Dwayne Jubilee, Jr., a resident of Norristown. Jubilee shot and killed Fairel, police said.

The nature of the confrontation Sunday remains unclear, but authorities suggested that the dispute involved those who were celebrating Fairel's life, and not from an outside party.

Anyone with information about the murder is asked to contact the Horsham Police Department at 215-643-8284 or call Montgomery County Detectives at 610-226-5553.
