Fire At Norristown Area HS Extingished

NORRISTOWN, PA — Firefighters battled back a blaze at Norristown Area High School Monday morning. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The incident occurred at around 5:55 a.m. in the athletic wing of the school.

Officials said that crews on the scene "quickly located" and extinguished the blaze. Firefighters were on the scene for several hours cleaning the area and ventilating the wing of smoke.

The exact extent of the damage is not yet clear, but appeared to be contained to a small area.

The school still managed to open for in-person instruction, but on a modified schedule. Buses were delayed for middle and elementary school students.

Norristown Area High School will be operating in-person today on a modified schedule. Buses will be running late for middle and elementary school students.

The Township Fire Marshal is leading the investigation.

Jefferson Fire Company No. 1 was assisted by Pennsylvania State Police, Lower Providence Fire Department, Norriton Fire Engine Company, Worcester Volunteer Fire Department, Norristown Fire Department, Norristown Professional Firefighters Local 2335, Plymouth Community Ambulance Association - Medic 308, West Norriton Township Police Department, West Norriton Township Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS Bridgeport Fire Department, and Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co.
