Former Norristown Fire Chief Jim Mullane Dies

Jim Mullane was a longtime public servant, serving in Vietnam and leading efforts to advance firefighting in the state.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Former Norristown Fire Chief James Mullane died this week, the fire department announced on Tuesday. He was 76.

Mullane had a long firefighting career that included various roles both in Norristown and regionally through the PA State Firefighters Association.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with the 4th Division of Combat Engineers in Vietnam.

The Norristown Fire Department mourned the loss.

"It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of past Fire Chief James Mullane," they shared. "Please keep Jim’s family in your prayers."
