4 Wanted After Robbery, Killing In Norristown Over The Weekend: DA

The stolen vehicle used by the suspects was set on fire nearby several hours later, police said.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A manhunt is underway for four suspects after a robbery left one man dead in Norristown Saturday night, police said.

The incident occurred at around 7:49 p.m. on Jan. 20 on the first block of West Wood Street.

William Grover Carter, 35, had been in a nearby house on Powell Street with an acquaintance when he went outside to retrieve something from his vehicle, according to the district attorney's office.

Video surveillance showed that a grey Toyota RAV-4 pulled up and three men got out, with the driver staying in the car, the DA said.

The men grabbed Carter and robbed him, and then one of the suspects shot and killed him, police said.

The RAV-4, which was determined to be stolen from Cheltenham on Dec. 13, was found engulfed in flames at around 3 a.m. on Willow and Roberts streets.
