Free Bulk Trash Disposal Event To Be Held In Norristown In May

Need to get rid of furniture and other bulky waste for free? A dozen dumpsters will be set up around town next month.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Norristown will hold a free municipal-wide clean-up event for residents to discard bulk trash and waste next month.

The bi-annual program, a partnership between Norristown and contractor J.P. Mascaro and Sons, will next be held on May 6.

A dozen, 30-cubic yard dumpsters will be set up around town for residents to discard items.

"This can be old furniture, trash, or other non-electronic/non-hazardous waste," officials said in a statement. "There is absolutely no charge to drop anything off in these dumpsters."

Dumpsters will be in place around town from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is illegal for contractors to use these dumpsters.

The following locations will have at least one dumpster, and in most cases two:

  • Municipal Hall (235 E. Airy Street)
  • Arch & Oak streets
  • Corson & Marshall streets
  • Haws Avenue & Marshall Street
  • Haws Avenue & Washington Street
  • Buttonwood & Elm streets
  • Pine & Fornance streets
  • Roberts Street (Norris Hills)
  • Guardino Park (1200 block of West Lafayette Street)
