Groundbreaking Held On New Senior Care Center In Norristown

The new senior center in Norristown held a groundbreaking event this week.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Groundbreaking was held Wednesday on the new senior care center in Norristown that will cater to day services for patients over the age of 55.

The Mercy Life Norristown facility will be located on 1430 Dekalb Street, less than a mile from the Montgomery County Courthouse and the Norristown Transportation Center.

“Soon, Mercy LIFE will help Montgomery County seniors continue to live independently, while still receiving comprehensive, and, most importantly, compassionate care,” said Dan Drake, Senior Vice President, Continuing Care, Mercy Health System. “We are looking forward to opening our doors to area seniors this summer.”

Patients will be given transportation from their homes to the facility and back home again, officials said.

The center represents a $6 million investment in Norristown, after the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Office of Long Term Living designated the property to Mercy in Feb. 2017.

Mercy also plans to open a PACE center, which aims to assist the elderly in living at home, at some point in 2018 in Norristown.
