Group Recruiting Veterans For 'Hero's Trip' From KOP To D.C. Memorials
Veterans of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam can make the special trip to the nation's capital and receive a hero's welcome upon return.
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — A nonprofit combat veterans organization is recruiting Philadelphia area veterans for a special "Day of Honor" bus trip from King of Prussia to Washington, D.C. to visit some of the nation's war memorials.
The trip, put together by Honor Flight Philadelphia, is free of charge for veterans of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. All participants will receive three meals a day, snacks, and transport to and from the nation's capital.
“Honor Flight Philadelphia strives to honor the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans," volunteer and event organizer Kim McDonald said. "The day offers our veterans the opportunity of camaraderie, fellowship, healing, and recognition that many may not have received upon their return from service."

The trip will include stops at major war memorials as well as a a "USO-styled" welcome home event to acknowledge their military service.

“(The event) fills everyone's hearts and souls with a sense of patriotism, love and remembrance of the defenders of our freedom," McDonald added.
