Group To Train 5,000 Montgomery Co. Students To Prevent Sex Abuse

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — A locally-based organization is training more than 5,000 students to prevent child sexual abuse.

The new initiative is headed up by Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center, based in East Norriton. The group's "R.O.A.R." project is undertaking to teach a large group of children about body safety and how to speak out and stop child abuse.

Their goal is 5,000 students between the ages of 4 and 8 taught by Feb. 2020.

The program utilizes "fun, interactive and child-centered training" to get crucial, sensitive lessons across.

Founded in 2008, Mission Kids works directly with the District Attorney's Office, the county Office of Children and Youth, and municipal police departments to respond to child abuse situations. They help children through forensic interviews and medical care, offer family advocacy assistance, and, of course, perform outreach and prevention work.
