Hatchet-Wielding Man Captured After Fight, Road Rage In Montco: Police

The man rammed his gold SUV into the back of the other vehicle, according to authorities.

UPPER MERION, PA — A man who got into a fight while wielding a hatchet before ramming his SUV into the back of another vehicle was captured in Montgomery County recently, police said.

The incident occurred on Friday, Oct. 20 at around 9 p.m.

A man got into a fight with another man near the Valley Forge Towers on 1000 Valley Forge Circle, police said. After the fight, one of the men left with his friend. The other man, armed with the hatchet and accompanied by his own friend, followed them in a gold SUV, according to authorities.

The SUV tailgated the victims before eventually ramming into the back of their vehicle on Route 23, police said.

Upper Merion, West Norriton, and Lower Providence police officers were able to track down the SUV and pull it over just off Route 23. Both men were taken into custody without incident and the hatchet was later found in the rear of the 2000 building at Valley Forge Towers.

The hatchet-wielding man was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats, and related counts. He was booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility and awaits a preliminary hearing.
