Here's How 8 Montgomery Co. Hospitals Rank For Patient Safety
A few changes from the last safety ratings. See how all six Montgomery Co. hospitals did:
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — The nonprofit Leapfrog Group, which assesses hospital safety, released its Fall 2019 safety ratings Thursday. The organization assessed approximately 2,600 hospitals across the country, including 123 in Pennsylvania.
Of the hospitals analyzed, 56 got an A grade and eight got a D.
Leapfrog's assessment included eight hospitals in Montgomery County. Three received an A grade: Abington Memorial, Abington Lansdale, and Suburban Community.

The only Montgomery County hospital to get a D was Pottstown.

It was the seventh consecutive A score for Abington Health Lansdale Hospital.
"It is a tremendous honor for both Abington and Lansdale hospitals to be awarded ‘A’ grades from the Leapfrog Group,” said Meg McGoldrick, president, Abington – Jefferson Health. "Patient safety is among our organization’s core values. This recognition is a reflection of our continued commitment to delivering the safest and highest level of care to the members of our community."
Leapfrog relies on a panel of experts to select the measures used in the methodology and to develop a scoring system. (You can read more about the letter grades here.)
