Join us for the next presentation in our Making History Greater Series when Ranger Ann Shipley presents A Community at Valley Forge.
Join Ranger Ann Shipley from Valley Forge National Historic Park to look at the wider history of the Revolutionary War's most famous winter encampment. Learn about the stories of the people who created Valley Forge and who lived there before and after. Featured are the women, men, and children whose tales are often overlooked or altered when picturing the myth of Valley Forge.
Ann Shipley is a St. Louis, Missouri native who holds a BA in History from Truman State University as well as a Masters in History from Villanova University. Ann has been active in the Park Service since high school and can name all the states and their capitals in song version.

As part of its mission to promote and interpret the history of Montgomery County, the Making History Greater series features scholars, authors, and historians who are currently working on telling new stories about the complexity of our region’s history. Presentations are held at the Historical Society located at 1654 DeKalb Street in Norristown, PA. Thursday presentations begin at 5:00 with a social gathering and light refreshments. Lectures begin at 5:30 and last for about an hour with time for questions at the end. This program is free and open to the public.
