The Pennsylvania Department of Education released the average 2016 SAT scores for schools statewide, and collectively, Norristown placed near the bottom of hte county and state.
Their average score of 1307 was in the lower range of schools in the county.
Their Reading average was 440, the Math average was 449, and the writing average was 418.

A total of 245 students were tested throughout the year.
In Montgomery County, Lower Merion and Harriton led the way, with average scores of 1766 and 1754, respectively.

The top school in the Philadelphia area - and in the entire state - was Julia Masterman High School in the city, with an average of 1978. The top public high school was Conestoga, averaging 1795.
