Hundreds Remain Without Power In East Norriton Area

The impacts of Wednesday's storm, which knocked down power lines and closed roads around the area, are still being felt.

EAST NORRITON, PA — The impacts of Wednesday's storm, which knocked down power lines and closed roads around parts of Montgomery County and southeastern Pennsylvania, are still being felt.

More than 200 PECO customers still remain without power in the East Norriton area on Friday morning, according to PECO's outage map. The good news is that most of the outages have an estimated restoration time of sometime on Friday, ranging from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

At the height of the storm Wednesday, power as knocked out at thousands of homes in the county, including a significant number in a band stretching from Lansdale to Whitpain to East Norriton.

Emergency crews urged members of the public to avoid downed wires, which led to numerous road closures.

In Norristown, a main artery, East Main Street, was shut down into Thursday due to downed wires between Arch and Walnut streets.

The Elmwood Park Zoo was also closed Thursday as it recovered from the storm, but reopened Friday.

In East Norriton, the storm also delayed yard waste pickup. That will take place instead on Monday morning, July 26.
