
PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- Alexandros P. Colyvas, age 101, husband of the late Mary S. (Katsimigas) Colyvas, of Mont Clare, PA, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 in the Seasons Hospice, Phoenixville. Born on August 5, 1914 in Ithaki, Greece, he was a son of the late Panayiotis and Violeta (Dendrinos) Colyvas.
Mr. Colyvas served in the Greek Navy and later became a merchant marine. He traveled worldwide but his heart was always with his beloved Ithaki. He was an active and faithful member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Jeffersonville, where he served as cantor, the oldest attendant to the priest and Papou to everyone.

Mr. Colyvas enjoyed history, telling his stories, and above all, spending time with his family. For over 30 years, he owned and operated the East Hy Grill, a restaurant in Hyattsville, MD.
Mr. Colyvas is survived by three sons, Peter A., husband of Theresa of Zieglerville, PA, Nicholas A., husband of Christine of Spring City, PA, and Michael, husband of Wendy J. of Deale, MD; six grandchildren, Alexandra, Peter, Francesca, Jessica, Sarah, and Nathan; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Peggy Colyvas. He was preceded in death by six siblings, John, Maria, Voula, Gus, Zaharati, and Danny.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 900 S. Trooper Road, Jeffersonville, PA 19403 on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 11:00 AM . Officiating will be the Rev. Peter Thornberg. Burial will be held in the Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, PA. Friends will be received from 9:30 am - 11:00 am Thursday at the church, with the Trisagion taking place at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the church at the above address.
