Killing Of 2 Montco High Schoolers Over Weed: Trial Set For June

NORRISTOWN, PA — Two men will stand trial for the killing of two Montgomery County high schoolers last fall.

Dominic Carboni, 18, of Schwenksville, and Deonte Kelly, 23, of Philadelphia, have both been charged with first degree murder.

The incident occurred on Oct. 17 on Fourth and Johnson streets in Pottstown.

The victims, 17-year-old Skyler Fox and 18-year-old Brandon Bacote-Byer, were trying to buy marijuana, authorities said.

The group met shortly after 11 p.m. It's not clear exactly what led to the shooting, but it resulted in Fox and Bacote-Byer dead. Prosecutors said that at 11:45 p.m., just minutes following the shooting, Carboni deleted his messaging history with Fox.

Video surveillance recovered by detectives showed a maroon-colored Ford pick-up truck fleeing the area of the killings, and that the truck appeared to be the same color and make and model as a Ford F-150 owned by Carboni's father, which the younger Carboni had been seen driving earlier in the evening, according to the DA's Office.

A five day trial will begin June 26. They face life in prison if convicted of first degree murder.

Both men remain in Montgomery County Correctional Facility as they await trial.
