King of Prussia Resident Honored at Cradles to Crayons’ Student Recognition Night

On the night of Wednesday, May 17th, 2017 Cradles to Crayons®, a non-profit organization which provides basic essentials to children living in homeless or low-income situations, honored a group of Student Leaders, ranging from 6-18, who were inspired this year to take action and make a difference in the lives of local children in need. These students and their families were invited to the Philadelphia Giving Factory, located in West Conshocken, Pennsylvania, to enjoy desert and light refreshments as Cradles to Crayons thanked them for all the hard work they put forth.

Fatima Browne of King of Prussia, a student at Archbishop John Carroll High School, was one of the honored recipients of Cradles to Crayons’ Student Leader award. Fatima has served as a valued member of the Champion Giving Corps and Teen Leadership Corps (TLC) since June 2015, helping to lead groups of volunteers in the Giving Factory, holding product drives, and supporting Cradles to Crayons’ major events, Backpack-A-Thon® and Un-Gala. Fatima has served hundreds of hours in that time, making her eligible this year for her second Presidential Service Award.

The Cradles to Crayons mission and model allow the organization to inspire philanthropy by engaging youth in leadership roles and providing opportunities for service-minded students to have a direct impact on the lives of their less fortunate peers. The organization offers several programs under the “Children Helping Children” umbrella, including Independent Service Projects, school-based C2C Clubs, milestone celebrations and the Teen Leadership Corps, which is a competitive year-long program providing an opportunity for high school students to develop or improve organizational & leadership skills while supporting children in need.
