Lafayette Street To Shut Down As Extension Project Begins

Traffic on Ridge Pike and other main roads will be impacted. Detour information and more below.

The Lafayette Street Extension Project began implementing Stage 2A of the project’s traffic control plan on Thursday, the borough of Norristown said on its website.

During this stage of construction the travel lanes on Ridge Pike will be shifted between Conshohocken Road and School Lane, according to the borough.

The travel lanes of Ridge Pike, which are currently tight up against the north side of the roadway, will be shifted to the south side of the roadway.

Fairfield Road will remain in the “one-way” configuration during this stage.

Diamond Avenue will remain closed to through traffic. Traffic will remain in this configuration throughout the winter and spring.

The roadway is still subject to temporary restrictions or traffic shifts during working hours as needed to carry out construction activities.
