Lanes Closed As Norristown Elm Street Bridge Repairs Begin
The $7.8 million project will repair the 150-year-old structure, which handles nearly 25,000 vehicles per day.
NORRISTOWN, PA — Multiple lane closures will be in place in Norristown in the coming week as road work on the Elm Street Bridge gets underway.
Parts of Markley Street between Harding/Spruce streets and Marshall Street, will be limited from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day from Jan. 30 to Feb. 2.
Traffic will be controlled by flagging.

The Elm Street Bridge, which carries about 24,993 vehicles a day over Stony Creek, is 150 years old.
The $7.8 million project will fully rehabilitate the 123-foot-wide structure, including a replacement of the stone barriers, repairing the stone masonry and arch, and installing a brown guiderail.

Traffic signals, ADA curb ramps, pavement markings, and new signage are being installed are part of this project as well.
Further closures are planned for the future, and an exact project completion date has not yet been announced.
