'Let Us Not Be Divided': Officials React To Norristown Fight
The comments came after dozens of students walked out of Stewart Middle School in protest.

NORRISTOWN, PA — As the investigation continues into a massive fight in Norristown and the subsequent confrontation between a group of teens and police, local leaders are urging solidarity and unity.
In a statement issued Tuesday evening, Norristown Councilwoman Sonya Sanders said that the borough could not issue a specific comment about the investigation until it was completed.
"In the interim, please enable unity in the community, assist families in need, and stand strong together," Sanders said. "Let us not be divided, partake in racial tensions, and eliminate all prejudices. Allow the beauty of unity to continue to thrive in the midst of adversity in the community of Norristown."

The fight, which took place Saturday evening on the final night of the St. Francis of Assisi Carnival, involved more than 50 teens.

Several videos from the scene sparked outrage from all sides, with many concerned that teens were punching and shoving officers, and others saying that police used excessive force.
The ongoing investigation involves interviews, video review, follow-ups on tips, and more, officials said.
The incident sparked a walk-out by more than 100 students at Stewart Middle School on Monday in protest of the police response.
