The council of Norristown needs to stop making empty promises to the residents they claim they represent.

It is annoying when they say they will clean up certain areas of town, but then refuse to follow through on it.

Instead, they forget the residents and side with big banks. And there goes the town.

My example is W. Marshall and downtown Main Street. Back in the late 60s and early 70s you could walk the streets, stop in at Chatlins and Block, the five and dime, Woolworth’s, or the New York store.

Today, all of that is gone due to the council letting the big banks come in and say “we’ll give you money for these stores, here, get them out.”

Then the big bank’s people renege on the deal, and the stores either sit vacant or the council gets a stupid idea to knock them down to build a parking lot or garage.
