Longtime Norristown Area Man, Villanova Grad, US Navy Vet In World War II Passes At 91
The longtime area man also loved to dance and was known as "the King of Jitterbug."

NORRISTOWN, PA -- Augustine J. Lattanze of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on April 11, 2017 at age 91. Born November 22, 1925 in Norristown, Augustine was the son of Italian immigrants, Josephine (Pedicone) and Augustine J. Lattanze. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Plawa) Lattanze. He raised his family and was a long-time resident of East Norriton.

Augustine was the loving father of the late Deborah Bakula (the late Joe), Denise Kirkwood (the late James), Cynthia Zimmer (David), David Lattanze (Allison), Barbara Sroba (Stephen) and Ellen Motta (John). He was the cherished grandfather of the late Kristofer Kimper, Lynsay McBride, Jennifer Sroba, Stephen Sroba III, David Zimmer Jr., Ian Zimmer, April Motta, Sydney Motta, David Lattanze Jr. and Sofia Lattanze. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Branco and brother, John Lattanze. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Augustine proudly served our Country in the US Navy on the USS Panamint during WWII as a radio man. He graduated from Villanova University and was inducted into the Who's Who Among College and University students in 1953. He was an IRS Agent for many years then served as the State Auditor for the Unemployment Office of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Augustine was a devout Catholic and long time member of St. Titus Church and the St. Titus Athletic Club. He enjoyed dancing and was known as the "King of Jitterbug". He was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling, trains, birdwatching, the Philadelphia Eagles, and taking his family on weekend historical trips.

Relatives and friends are invited to Augustine's Life Celebration at St. Titus Church, 3006 Keenwood Road, East Norriton, PA 19403 on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 9:45-10:45 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Interment will be at Hatfield Cemetery of Grace Lutheran Church.
