Longtime Upper Merion Police Lieutenant Retires
Lieutenant Al Elverson has been on patrol in the local community for nearly three decades.

UPPER MERION, PA β The Upper Merion Police Department is celebrating the long and successful career of one of its most treasured public servants.
Patrol Lieutenant Al Elverson formally retired on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
"We wish Al the best of luck in his new career and thank him for his 28 years of dedicated and professional service to the residents of Upper Merion Township," the department said in a statement.

Elverson arrived in Upper Merion in 1995 after serving with the Upper Gwynedd Police Department.
His work included time on Patrol Division, Investigations Division, and the Traffic Safety Unit, before ultimately commanding the "A" Patrol Platoon after his promotion to Lieutenant in 2018.
