Longtime Upper Merion Police Officer Named Chester County Police Chief
Lt. Brendan Brazunas has given the local community 25 years of exemplary service.
UPPER MERION, PA — A longtime local public service is taking his gun and badge down the road to Chester County after decades of helping the community.
The Upper Merion Township Police Department's Lt. Brendan Brazunas has been a mainstay in the area for 25 years. He's been named the new Chief of the Downingtown Police Department.
"Lt. Brazunas will definitely be missed here at UMPD and we wish him all of the best at Downingtown PD," Upper Merion Police shared.

Brazunas was hired in 1999 as a civilian Special Officer and Dispatcher before being hired a year later in 2000 as an officer.
He worked numerous roles during his time in Upper Merion, including most recently as the Division Commander of the Administration and Emergency Management Division. That job had him oversee the department's field training program and policy development, as well as overseeing the department's accreditation process.

He was sworn in as Chief at Downingtown Borough Hall on Tuesday, January 2.
