Montgomery County K9s Get Body Armor Donation

Montgomery County's K9 Officers Brutus and Kane have received a donation of body armor to help protect them while in the line of duty.

Lower Providence K9 Officers Brutus and Kane have received a donation of body armor to help protect them while in the line of duty.

The donation of the bullet and stab protective vests are courtesy of Vested Interested in K9s, a non-profit organization based in Massachusetts.

K9 Brutus’s vest is sponsored by an anonymous donor and will be embroidered with the sentiment “May this vest protect me and keep me from harm," a press release states.

K9 Kane’s vest is sponsored by a memorial donation in memory of the Sgt. Collin Rose of Wayne State University Police Department, Vested Interest said. His vest will be embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of Sergeant Collin Rose, Wayne State University Police Dept., MI."

Brutus is a 3 year old German Shepherd assigned to Officer Jeremy Bonner, while Kane is a 4 year old Belgian Malanois from Dudenburg, Belgium and is assigned to Officer Joseph McCreary, police said.

Delivery is expected within eight to ten weeks.

Vested Interest in K9s, based in East Taunton, MA, provides bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The non-profit was established in 2009.
