Man Arrested For 'Social Media Threats' Was Hiding In Norristown: Report

A Stowe man was arrested on Wednesday for making threats to his ex-girlfriend over Instagram, according to a report.

Devin Eric Hitchens, 21,was first reported to the Pennsylvania State Police at Skippack on Wednesday morning by an individual whom authorities have refused to identify, the report states. The individual said there were ”disturbing” messages being posted by Hitchens on Instagram.

Multiple police departments joined in the search for Hitchens after his ex-girlfriend stated he had become “controlling, manipulative, and violent,” the Pottstown Mercury said.

He was searched for in Norristown, fled, and was eventually found in a dumpster behind the Dollar General in Stowe on Grosstown Road and West High Street, the report states.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 27.
