The incident occurred on the 100 block of West Lafayette Street around 4 a.m.
The victim, a man, was shot in the stomach, police said.

A person of interest was interviewed by police, who police said legally owned the weapon used in the crime. Police did not say if this individual is the shooter. He has since been released.
