Markley Madness Is Over: Ribbon Cutting To Mark Reopening Of Norristown Street

Here's what to know if you go. The reopening is ahead of schedule, officials say.

After over two and a half years of work, two way traffic on Markely Street will reopen on Friday, September 4, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced on Monday.

A ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Markley and Brown streets will celebrate the reopening, PennDOT said.

PennDOT Secretary Leslie S. Richards and local officials will be on hand to mark the occasion. The street is opening ahead of schedule, officials said.

Parking for the event is available in the Shopping Center along Markley Street, across the street from a gas station just north of Markley Street’s intersection with Roberts Street.

The $20.8 million reconstruction project had significantly altered the traffic flow in the borough since it began in February of 2013.
