Markley And Main Street Intersection To Remain Closed In Norristown

Additional delays should be expected in Norristown through early next week as reconstruction work continues.

NORRISTOWN, PA — One of Norristown's busiest intersections will remain closed through Dec. 12, officials with PennDOT confirmed, as construction and improvement work continues in the area.

The corner of Main and Markley streets will be shut down through Dec. 12 at 5 a.m.

The work is part of the ongoing project to revitalize the entire corridor. PennDOT crews are currently removing the existing pavement from the intersection and installing concrete slabs, stormwater drainage, and a stone base.

For pedestrians, the best way to get around the construction work is to take the Airy Street overpass between Astor and Barbadoes streets.

SEPTA's Main Street station parking lot remains open at West Main between Water and Markley streets.

Motorists traveling in the area are advised to plan for additional delays.
