Military Veterans with Disabilities Tee-it-Up at “Secretary’s Cup,” 9-Hole Golf Match Prior to 2016 PGA Championship Week

Military Veterans tee-it-up before the PGA Championship

PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America, hosted the inaugural “Secretary’s Cup,” on Sunday, July 24th at Fiddler’s Elbow CC. The 9-hole golf match featured military Veterans that participated in PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) programming, a 6-8 week golf clinic that introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities in order to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being.

The competition consisted of Veterans representing the Philadelphia Section PGA, the New Jersey PGA Section and the Metropolitan PGA Section. Veterans from Team Philadelphia (L to R) (Bill Jackson, John Mihalik, Rob Donnelly and PGA HOPE Coordinator, Chris Nowak) were joined by PGA Professional, John Carpineta (2nd from right) who was instrumental in teaching the HOPE program at the Section level.
