Montco 2040 Grant Program Now Open To Applications

The next round of funding for the most original and important sustainability projects in the county is on the way.

NORRISTOWN, PA β€” Montgomery County has now opened up applications for its Montco 2040 grant program, which aims to support projects that improve walkability, pedestrian safety, and trail accessibility.

Applications for the next round of funding are due on March 1. Recent projects funded by Montco 2040 grants have included streambank restorations, park improvements, community gardens, and pedestrian safety upgrades.

"We’ve seen many successful projects, which have made a difference in our communities, completed with funds from this program to help us achieve the goals of the Montco 2040 plan," Montgomery County Commissioner Ken Lawrence said in a statement.

A total of $2.5 million will be alloted in this round of funding. An individual grant can be up to $200,000, while awards average at around $100,000.

A total of $12.7 million has been awarded to 113 projects in 51 municipalities across the county since the program launched in 2016.
