Montco COVID-19 Vaccine Town Hall To Be Held On MLK Day

GLENSIDE, PA — Local lawmakers and community leaders will host a virtual town hall meeting on Martin Luther King Day Monday on the COVID-19 vaccine in Montgomery County.
The meeting is set for 11 a.m. on Jan. 18 and can be viewed online at State Rep. Napoleon Nelson's website.
“This Monday being Martin Luther King Jr. Day, is a national day of service,” Nelson said in announcing the event. “As such, I wanted to create an opportunity to serve our community with a chance to learn about vaccinations and how important and safe they are as we all work together to get through this ongoing coronavirus pandemic.”

He'll be joined by Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh, as well as Rev. Marshall Mitchell, from Abington's Salem Baptist Church.

Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine recently pointed to public education efforts as one of the most important parts of the vaccine rollout and the quest to end the pandemic.
The county remains in the 1A phase, which means that vaccines are only being distributed to healthcare workers. Officials are hopeful they can soon move to phases 1B and 1C, which includes teachers, police officers, immunocompromised individuals, and residents over the age of 65.
The county has administered 23,262 partial and 2,959 full doses as of Friday evening.
