Montco Declares Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency
Officials are urging residents to take these precautions ahead of some frigid weather coming to the area this week.
NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County has declared a Code Blue cold weather emergency through the rest of this week.
The declaration will go into effect at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 and continue through Friday, Dec. 20 at noon.
Code Blue is reserved for when the wind chill is expected to dip below 20 degrees and conditions "pose a threat of serious harm or death to individuals without shelter."

Lows of 17 on Wednesday, 18 on Thursday, and 18 on Friday bring the potential of a much lower wind chills, forecasters with the National Weather Service warn.

Residents are advised to winterize their vehicles with antifreeze, a full tank of gas, properly inflated tires, and an emergency kit.
Pets should be carefully monitored to ensure they do not spend too much time outdoors.
