Montco Employee Used $1.2M In Stolen Funds For Son's Prison Food: DA

NORRISTOWN, PA — A longtime employee at an office furniture store in Montgomery County stole more than $1.2 million under the noses of the owners, using the money for personal expenses like her son's prison food and extensive travel, authorities said.

Linda Mansi, 53, of Tuckerton, New Jersey, faces numerous felony theft charges and related counts.

Over the course of eight years at Arnold’s Office Furniture and Sunline Supply Company, Mansi worked as everything from a bookkeeper to vice president of finance and human resources. But in each position, she was responisble for the books, running payroll and most financial activities, police said.

Owners reported the missing funds and investigators said they found that Mansi had been making cash withdrawals from company accounts, totalling $1,271,315.72 since 2016.

She used the funds for a wide array of things, including online gambling sites like Fanduel, airline tickets to Miami and other travel expenses, legal costs, Phillies and concert tickets, purchases from jewelery stores and Etsy, and to fund her incarcerated son's visits to the commissary, according to authorities.

“A local Montgomery County business now faces significant financial hardship because of someone who preyed upon the company owners’ trust," DA Kevin Steele said in a statement. "Sadly, this situation is not completely uncommon. This case is a reminder that businesses and non-profit organizations need to have checks and balances on any individual who handles the company’s finances."

Mansi turned herself into police on Thursday, July 27, Bail was set at $100,000 and she was released after posting it, with the stipulation that she not leave Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 9.
