Montco Launches 'Commission For Women,' Seeks Volunteers

The county needs 21 volunteers for the special effort, which aims to improve opportunities for women in business and more.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County officials have launched a new "Commission for Women" that aims to formalize their efforts to improve opportunities and status for women and girls across the county.

The launch coincides with Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. The group is now seeking volunteers. They'll target efforts ranging from helping women succeed in business, to overcoming discrimination in housing, and more.

“The Commission for Women will be a platform for assessing and guiding the County’s efforts to enhance services for women and girls across various demographics,” Commissioner Jamila H. Winder said in a statement. “We aim to pinpoint and boost opportunities for women in business and entrepreneurship, address bias and discrimination, and foster safe communities promoting gender equality and eradicating violence against women."
