Montco Launches New App Connecting Caregivers And Cardiac Arrest Victims

Montgomery County officials say that the new mobile app will help streamline the response to cardiac arrests and save lives.

NORRISTOWN, PA —The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners announced the release of a new app on Wednesday that they hope will streamline emergency response to cardiac arrests and save lives.

The mobile app, called Montgomery County PulsePoint Respond, is connected to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety 911 call center. Whenever there is a call for cardiac arrest, anyone who has the app and is within a quarter mile of the location of the call will receive a notification.

The app also shows the location of the nearest automatic external defibrillator (AED).

“Bystander CPR and use of AEDs save lives. The Montgomery County PulsePoint app will help those trained in CPR reach victims in need,” Valerie Arkoosh, Chair, Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, said in a statement. “We are proud to be working closely with local fire, police, EMS, and others to spread the word about the technology and also encourage more residents to get trained in CPR so they can become part of the Montco-PulsePoint team saving lives.”

Now, the county is working with local police, fir, EMS, and health care professionals to encourage qualified individuals to download the app.
