NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County launched Pennsylvania's first ever "mobile" voter services office over the weekend during a local festival.

The large van provides all the same services as the satellite offices that have opened up around the county in the leadup to the 2024 election.

Citizens can register to vote, update their voter registration, request and complete and return a mail-in ballot, and more.

Nothing like it has been introduced yet in Pennsylvania, according to the county.

“It’s one of several steps we’re taking to make this election more accessible than ever," Montgomery County Commissioner and elects chief Neil Makhija said in a statement. "We’ve doubled our secure ballot drop boxes, opened more satellite voter services offices than ever, and now this mobile satellite office can reach more people where they already are. Our goal is to increase voter access to the information and tools they need to participate in our democracy."

The van appeared in Willow Grove over the weekend, and it will travel to senior centers, retirement communities, and other public events in the coming weeks.

“We can especially reach people in places where accessibility challenges make it harder to visit a voter services office, such as senior facilities and community centers," Commissioner Jamila Winder added.

County government has doubled the number of voter offices and increased the ballot drop off boxes ahead of the general election in November. It's part of a larger effort to bolster the county's voting related services and election security, and make the county a national leader in voter turnout.
