Montco Man Stole Name Of Deceased Individual, Lived With His Identity Since 1996: Authorities

A Montco man escaped from a Texas halfway house in 1996 and has been living under another man's identity ever since, the US Attorney said.

LANSDALE, PA -- A Lansdale man escaped from a halfway house in Texas in 1996, stole the identity of a deceased individual, and has been living under that identity for the two decades since, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Jon Vincent, 44, of Lansdale, has been living under the name Nathan Laskoski for more than 20 years, authorities said.

Vincent had been sentenced to time at the halfway house after serving a prison term in Texas in the 90s. After escaping the house, he obtained Lakoski's birth certificate, and then used the birth certificate to obtain a social security card so that he could collect benefits.

A relative of Laskoski uncovered Vincent's ruse while doing research on Ancestry.com, authorities said.

Vincent fis being charged with Social Security fraud and aggravated identity theft. He faces prison time, probation, and a fine of up to $500,000 if convicted.

Lansdale Police investigated the case alongside the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and the United States Department of Labor Office of Inspector General.
