NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County hosted its first ever maternal health conference in Norristown this week to discuss ways to address public health disparities across social classes, races, and ages.

The event focused on policy change specifically, and brought together experts from the county Office of Public Health, local nonprofits, and regional and state health departments.

"Maternal and infant mortality rates continue to rise to crisis levels nationwide, especially for Black moms,” Montgomery County Commissioner Jamila H. Winder said in a statement. “I am proud that the County is working in partnership with the community, stakeholders, and policymakers to improve outcomes for our moms.”
